The Swapshop Lab
We believe in a fully circular future - one where clothes don't go to waste, but are not only reused, but also repaired, upcycled or recycled into something new. That’s why we created The Swapshop Lab: a space for experimentation, innovation, and collaboration. Together with creative minds and committed partners, we turn circular ideas into action and empower our swap community to take part in every step of the process. The Lab is divided into three key areas: (Re)thread, Repair, and Worklabs. Each focuses on a different aspect of circularity, but all share the same goal: giving clothes a new life.

(Re)thread challenge
We work in collaboration with designers, makers, and recyclers to develop upcycling and recycling projects. We give new life to clothes that are "non-swappable" - items that may be damaged, outdated, or simply unwanted. We transform them into unique upcycled collections and circular products, each with its own story to tell. To us, circular means made from used materials, designed to last and created with the end of its life in mind - so it can be repaired, reused, or recycled again. That's the challenge we take on.

Worklabs
Every month, we host in-store Worklabs where you can learn practical skills to extend the life of your clothing - from repair and proper washing to upcycling techniques. We know it’s easy to put these things off or not see them as a priority. That’s why we believe in doing and learning together. When we take the time together, it plants a seed, a shift in mindset that makes circular habits feel possible. Through our Worklabs, we bring together a community of like-minded people to share knowledge, spark creativity, and explore practical,
circular solutions.

Repair pop-ups
In addition to our monthly in-store Worklabs, we also host a monthly Repair Afternoon. On this day, a skilled repairer will be available in-store to mend small damages to your clothes - from loose seams to missing buttons or minor tears. To make it even more accessible, you can use your swaps for a discount on the repair costs. This way, we keep it affordable and within reach for everyone. While you're there, you can also pick up a DIY repair kit and easy-to-follow tutorials, designed to help you get started with small repairs at home.
